A Pressure (or Replaceable-Insert) Die is a die arrangement in which lubricant is pressurised ahead of the drawing insert — forcing it onto the wire surface under controlled pressure. This delivers deeper lubrication penetration, lower friction, reduced heat generation, improved wire surface finish, and significantly longer insert life compared to conventional open-die arrangements. Walson Woodburn pressure dies are available with PCD, diamond-coated, or tungsten carbide inserts from 0.50 mm to 5.50 mm, and are compatible with major dry drawing machines used in copper and steel wire production.
