Who we are

Introduction

Located in Surat — the diamond capital of the world — Walson Woodburn is a precision wire drawing die manufacturer and an Indo–American joint venture between Walson (India) and Woodburn Diamond Die (USA). Since 1970, we have supplied PCD, natural diamond, tungsten carbide, and specialty dies to wire and cable manufacturers across 40+ countries — combining over five decades of manufacturing expertise with direct access to the world's finest diamond sources.

What we do?

The world’s finest wires start here.

At Walson Woodburn, we craft performance through precision. Every product reflects our commitment to excellence, supporting our customers' success at every step.

Engineered for the Purest Precision.

Where perfection meets endurance. Manufactured in Surat from 111-plane polished gem-quality diamonds, our Natural Diamond Dies produce mirror-finish surfaces on ultra-fine and precision wires — from 0.010 mm upward. Preferred for jewellery, medical, and electronics wire where every fraction of a micron matters.

Poly-Crystalline Diamond Die

Durability Refined. Performance Proven.

Our Polycrystalline Diamond Dies cover 0.025 mm to 40 mm and are engineered for high-abrasion, high-throughput applications. Purpose-built for copper, aluminium, and steel wire drawing where long die life and low replacement frequency directly reduce production cost, they exemplify reliability engineered to last.

Tungsten Carbide Die

The Precision of Performance, Economized.

Our Tungsten Carbide Dies (0.150 mm to 50 mm) are the reliable choice for ferrous wire, welding wire, and large-diameter non-ferrous applications. High-precision carbide grade selection ensures dimensional consistency, long service life, and the lowest cost-per-tonne in high-volume drawing operations. Designed for high strength and dimensional accuracy, they remain the practical choice for large-scale operations that value precision within reach.

Designed for Speed. Defined by Accuracy.

Our Pressure (Replaceable-Insert) Dies force lubricant onto the wire surface under pressure, reducing friction, lowering heat, and extending insert life. Available in PCD or diamond-coated inserts from 0.50 mm to 5.50 mm — the practical choice wherever drawing speed, surface finish, and tool life must all be maximized simultaneously.

Compacting Die

Custom geometry. Uniform density. Stable guidance.

Our Stranding and Compacting Dies are engineered to achieve higher compaction ratios without compromising conductor resistance — reducing overall cable diameter while maintaining full electrical performance. We work with your cable design team to optimize die geometry for your specific conductor cross-section. Designed for durability and control, they maintain consistent compaction across demanding production runs.

Diamond Coated Die

Diamond-coated strength. Superior wire quality. Maximum tool life

Diamond-Coated Dies (DCD) combine the precision geometry of a tungsten carbide substrate with a nano-diamond coating — delivering significantly longer tool life than standard carbide inserts, superior wire surface quality, and lower cost per tonne. Available for wire drawing (0.80 mm to 50 mm) and for cable bunching, compaction, and stranding operations.

Enameling Die

Elongated Die Set

Matched geometry. Smooth transitions. Optimal elongation.

Our Elongation Die Sets are precision-matched pairs or series designed to deliver certified, consistent elongation (±0.5% tolerance) across every wire on multi-wire drawing machines. Purpose-built for Niehoff, Eurodraw, and similar 8- to 24-line machines — eliminating reel-to-reel elongation variation and reducing wire break rates in stranding and bunching operations. This design allows the wire to smoothly transition from one die to the next, ensuring optimal elongation while minimizing stress, friction, and breakage risk.

Enameling Die

Consistency in Every Coating.

Our Enameling Dies (0.05 mm to 6 mm) are precision tools for magnet wire and enamelled wire manufacturing. Each die controls enamel thickness, concentricity, and flow — wiping excess varnish while delivering a flawless, continuous insulating coat compatible with high-speed enameling lines for transformers, motors, and electronics. — because true precision lies beneath the surface.
