Elongated (Matched) Die Sets

An Elongation Die Set — also known as a matched die set — is a precision-coordinated pair or series of wire drawing dies, matched in geometry, reduction angle, bearing length, and tolerance, so that every wire on a multi-wire drawing machine draws at the same elongation. Without matched dies, individual wires elongate at different rates — causing uneven tension across the bobbins, increased wire breaks, and inconsistent mechanical properties in the final conductor. The set is engineered to produce optimal elongation of the wire in a controlled, gradual manner while minimizing stress, friction, and the risk of breaks.
Walson Woodburn Elongation Die Sets are manufactured and certified to a ±0.5% elongation tolerance. Each set is profiled and verified using our Conoptica Die Profile System before dispatch. We supply matched sets for Niehoff, Eurodraw, and other 8- to 24-line multi-wire drawing machines — in PCD and natural diamond, from 0.030 mm to 2.0 mm.
